Clayworks Sculptural Fine is a 30 mesh sculpture clay designed for hand-building and sculptural ceramic work - a strong, robust body with the green strength to hold form at scale, but a fine enough grain to keep detail.
It has a broad firing range and matures at Orton Cone 9, firing to a warm sandstone colour that many sculptors leave unglazed. It is also an excellent raku body. Despite being built for hand-building and sculpting, it stands up well on the wheel, so it earns its place if you work across multiple techniques.
A good all-round choice for figurative work, large forms, slab and coil building, and raku firing.
