Fired to Orton Cone 6 it vitrifies fully and gives excellent glaze fit - which is why it is the body most potters reach for when they are making functional tableware. The smooth, fine texture and clean white surface let midfire glazes and underglazes read true, so it is a reliable base for mugs, plates, bowls and everyday ceramics.
Cone 6 sits in the midfire range, around 1200–1222°C, between earthenware and high-fire stoneware. If you are firing a midfire glaze schedule, this is the white body to pair with it.
