A translucent, low firing, white porcelain. The firing range is 1180ºC to 1240ºC. For best whiteness and translucency fire in reduction.
Good plasticity and leather hard strength.
I haven’t fired it yet as I’m waiting for the work to dry thoroughly. It needs to dry slowly or joins open up or cracks appear.
However, Cool Ice has good, working plasticity for slab rolling and great leather hard and dry strength. I have been developing a porcelain to vitrify at Cone 7, that retains a satin surface and is translucent where thin, but can’t comment here at this stage
If you have used any coarse clay, this is a dream! Very easy to manipulate on the wheel and has been a relief for my wrist which has had RSI.
A beautiful clay to work with, very fine, uniform texture
