A light, creamy colour, 10# handbuilding body with good green strength. Quite plastic, yet good for large handbuilt pieces too. An excellent general purpose clay which could be used for beginning throwers as well as handbuilding.
An excellent clay for school students. Does not like to be fired when wet-damp.
Great for sculptural or modelling purposes because of its larger particle size.
Bisque Temp 1000ºC / Glaze Temp 1100ºC

Fantastic clay
I use this clay for my kids class. It is light coloured so good for use with underglazes. It is reliable and good value for money.
I teach ceramics and have been using this clay for years. I am quite disappointed in this clay. It used to be much whiter. Now it is a dirty white and looks dirty when fired. My students aren’t happy either. I don’t understand why the recipe has been changed.
Hi Angie! The receipe for the WEB has not been changed in over 40+ years. But in saying that, raw material variances occur all the time depending on where the clay is dug out of the clay pit. Variances are normal and in the hands of nature! The WEB clay is very pure, in not having many additional ingredients to change it's colour and texture, etc. If you were after a whiter clay for your students, we would suggest switching to the TWE Earthenware clay, as that way we can ensure a more consistent whiter colour, as more 'product' is added to improve the look and feel of the clay.
