Introduce colour into clay using fun and straight forward hand building techniques!
In this one-day workshop with Leah Jackson you will learn how to use simple hand building techniques to create your own jugs and pourers. Leah will guide you through her own technique of making unique forms in clay. Using a variety of coloured stains students will learn how to add stains to clay and how to incorporate colour into forms as an accent, pattern or highlight. This will be a day of exploration and play.
This workshop includes all materials, and the clear glazing and firing of work created (work will take at least two weeks to be ready). This workshop is ideal for beginners or those with some experience with clay.
Leah Jackson Tutor Profile
Leah Jackson is a Melbourne based ceramicist, with a practice that encompasses both the functional and the sculptural, with the domestic space a continuing influence in her work. Jackson completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) with a major in Ceramics at the ANU School of Art in 2003. A bespoke range of homewares are created in Jackson’s Melbourne based studio, and stocked with independent retailers throughout Australia. Her pieces are known for their functionality and joyful aesthetic, and take a unique approach to the porcelain medium.
