Cup of Cuteness is a one hour class typically programmed in the School Holidays. Follow us on Instagram for course release notifications..
Are your children looking for some school holiday fun and creativity?
Let NPS make a functional cup for your child to decorate! The painted cup could be perfect as a gift, or simply as a memento from a fun school holiday activity.
Under the guidance of our experienced tutor children will learn how decorate their cup using a range of coloured slips and textured elements. This is an opportunity for young children to explore and play with clay, developing their skills to match their imagination.
Cups will be clear glazed and fired by NPS staff and ready for collection within 2-3 weeks. Parents and guardians will be emailed when work is ready for collection.
Parents are welcome to stay during the activity or can enjoy a coffee or tea on Lygon Street, a short stroll away. If parents or careers would like to join the class and also decorate a cup they are welcome to, and just need to purchase a class for themselves in addition to their child. This class will have a maximum of 10 participants. Suitable for children 3+
Please bring along an apron for your children. Covered shoes are essential in the studio.
Chris Wright Tutor Profile
Chris Wright is a designer and maker based in Melbourne. He mostly works in clay but also has a love for drawing. Chris is enamoured by the possibilities clay offers as a material and the way that a shapeless blob of the stuff can be transformed into objects of incredible variety that reflect the makers individuality and voice. Chris’ aesthetic is fuelled by a range of influences and interests: pop culture 1950’s design, music, cartoons and interesting textures in the urban and natural environment. Living in South Africa for fourteen years and his training in ceramic design there has also influenced his work, particularly his love of pattern and carved surfaces. Chris creates a range of functional and decorative work made from the material that has been an enduring passion: clay.
Chris teaches our School Holiday Program - Make A Plate classes and also Friday evening Beginners Wheel Throwing.
