Ceramics Pottery Supplies Melbourne Wheel Throwing Classes Kilns Firing Service Best Clay Glaze Raw Material Workshop

Group Activities

Northcote Pottery Supplies offers group activities for children, students, parties, businesses and corporate groups. Group workshops present a unique opportunity for learning new skills, team building or just having a great time! Bring your group (small or large) and participate in a group pottery activity, conducted under the guidance of an experienced tutor. Group activities focus on wheel throwing and/or hand building.

What is wheel throwing?
In wheel throwing participants will learn how to work with clay on a revolving pottery wheel. An experienced tutor will provide participants with an introduction to clay, how to centre clay on the wheel and create small dishes and forms. Wheel throwing is one of our most popular activities. Whilst challenging, it provides a wonderful opportunity to learn a new skill and get your hands dirty!

What is hand building?
In hand building participants will learn how to pinch and coil pots and forms, fundamental pottery techniques. Hand building is a more relaxed way of working with clay, which can create more 'natural' or asymmetrical work.

Group Activity Testimonials
‘Thanks for your help with organising our work wellbeing pottery class. We found the class to be very informative and fun. Everyone was happy with their pieces of work they made within the afternoon and after picking them up from being glazed we were all impressed with how fantastic our pottery items turned out. We will definitely be back!'

'It was so much fun doing the group pottery class (at Northcote Pottery Supplies) with my colleagues while we all sat together in a circle on our wheels, encouraging (or laughing at) each other as we created beautiful ceramic pieces to keep! I loved doing something creative and fun with my work team. It was great!'
Bobby-Lee, ArtPlay and Signal, April 2014
"To celebrate my daughter's 14th birthday we arranged a group activity at Northcote Pottery Supplies. It was a wonderful experience - for mothers and daughters alike - and one that we will remember fondly for years to come. Our instructor was fabulous - just the right mix of fun and serious instruction. We were all novices, but at the end of the workshop we had each created 3 pieces of pottery good enough to fire. My daughter continues to delight in using her bowls for breakfast on a regular basis! It is rare to explore something new in such a stimulating, enjoyable environment. I recommend this activity to everyone!"
