Saturday 18 November 10am - 3pm
This one day workshop will allow you to explore the techniques of extruding clay and slab rolling to give you a range of shapes to create sculptural forms.
The wall mounted extruder allows for a variety of shapes to be made from clay tubes, with endless possibilities on how to use them in hand-building. Forms can be folded, bent, knotted, twisted, cut, joined, and so on.
Throughout the workshop you will also learn how to use the slab roller to build elements that can be combined with extruded forms. Slabs can be curved, draped, joined and used in a geometric or curved form.
The combination of slab and extruded forms allows for greater scope across sculptural pieces, and can be created from machinery accessible in the Studio Access everyday at Northcote Pottery Supplies.
Open to any ability level but must be able to wedge clay thoroughly prior to attending.
The workshop includes all materials, the class clay used will be White Raku. Works will be glazed by NPS staff and will be ready to be collected three to four weeks after the workshop.
Please note that there are limitations on the size and amount of work in this one day workshop.
